CHILE WORLD CUP

Over 120 windsurfers from all over the planet converged in the usually quiet town of Matanzas from March 24th to April 5th to take part in what is likely to be the biggest windsurfing wave competition of 2025. The competitors were greeted with two weeks of solid action with consistent wind and beautiful waves throughout the event window.

SARAH QUITA OFFRINGA 3RD PLACE PRO WOMEN

ANTON RICHTER 1ST PLACE PRO JUNIOR BOYS

JOAQUIN PRAT AND ISMAEL LABBE 1ST AND 3RD JUNIOR BOYS

3RD PLACE PRO WOMEN

Sarah Quita

The Pro Women and Pro Junior finals were held at the world renowned break of Topocalma with beautiful, reeling head high waves and 25-35 knot winds. It was Sarah-Quita’s first visit to Chile, and this was her first ever session at Topocalma but she took to the challenging conditions and found her rhythm very quickly. It was an extremely tightly contested heat with less than 0.5 points separating 1st and 3rd place, and with all of the sailors scoring multiple high-scoring rides. Sarah-Quita took a well deserved 3rd place which will place her in good stead for the rest of the 2025 World Tour.

1ST PLACE PRO JUNIOR BOYS

ANTON RICHTER

It was also Anton’s first trip to Chile and first session out at Topocalma and he too found an amazing rhythm, combining great wave selection with pinpoint timing and commitment. Anton finished the final with a commanding lead of 12.5 points, also scoring the best wave of the final with a 7.83 on his last ride.

1ST AND 3RD PLACE JUNIOR

JOAQUIN AND ISMAEL

Joaquín Prat won the junior division and Ismael Labbé came in 3rd place with some great sailing throughout, both demonstrating their local knowledge and waveriding prowess at the very tricky beach break of Matanzas. The energy level and technical skill of the entire junior fleet was extremely impressive to watch, showing us a taste of the wealth of talent that is coming out of Chile at a breathtaking rate.

WINDSURFING CHILE

Thank you to our Chilean partners Windsurfing Chile for their support of the event and for their work in building their formidable national team.

NATIONAL CHAMPION

Last but not least, congratulations to Iñaki Maturana who won the Chilean National Tour and only very narrowly missed out on qualifying for the main bracket of the Pro Men’s division. Iñaki will definitely be a name to look out for in the future!
