NeilPryde is a brand with a long and incredibly successful heritage, and windsurfing is still at the true core of our business ethos. Since our inception in the 1970s, we have designed and built equipment that has won countless world titles and allowed millions of people to take to the water and feel the freedom that is unique to our amazing sport.
As we evolve into a multi-sport brand, using our years of technical design and manufacturing knowledge to further enhance the fun that people can have on the water, we still feel windsurfing coursing through our veins at every milestone, so this year we were very proud to support the the Gloria Gran Canaria PWA World Cup in many ways.
As part of a financial injection into the event, NeilPryde and JP equipped the recently opened Bjorn Dunkerbeck Windsurf Center in Pozo with an entire range of new windsurfing equipment so that anyone visiting Pozo can test out the gear that Marino Gil used to win the event for the first time at just 21 years of age.
Unique to NeilPryde and JP, every one on our team has been using production equipment during the events this year, so it is truly possible to walk into Bjorn’s center and test out the equipment that has allowed our riders to occupy 3 out of the top 6 positions in the Unified PWA/IWT rankings at this mid-point in the season, with Marino in 1st, Morgan in 4th and Robby in 6th. The new Combat Pro Fuse sails, Magic Wave and Ultimate Wave boards, .
Bjorn and his friendly, knowledgable team now have an excellent selection of the latest and greatest NeilPryde / JP gear on offer as their “Pro” equipment set up. They also offer classes from beginner to expert, so you will certainly enjoy paying them a visit if you are in Gran Canaria and looking for any level of windsurfing rental / advice.
Once again this year, the event in Pozo was full of incredible talent all the way from the youngest junior at 8 years old to the oldest masters in their 50s. Every category was extremely hotly contested with incredible sailing going on in every heat.
We would like to thank Bjorn and his team for putting on a spectacular event which we were very proud to be part of and wish them all the best for the future.
Another person we were proud to support again after many years was Ricardo Campello who came back from his retirement earlier this year to compete in his favorite event with support from world-famous DJ Martin Garrix and action sports camera brand Insta360, among others.
Ricardo, as always, impressed everyone with his amazing sailing before, during and after the contest and we were extremely happy to see his specially printed “Martin Garrix” sails out on the water and showing the incredible sport that windsurfing is to millions of windsurfing, sports and music fans alike, all around the globe.
