Massive congratulations to Sam Esteve for winning the FPT Geneva tow-in freestyle event in spectacular fashion, posting a succession of 10 point runs!
Some words from Sam:
It is a unique feeling! I'm so happy, because 3 years ago I came here looking for this title, but it just eluded me. That was the first time that I'd landed a triple rotation in windsurfing, but I did it just after my competition run. This year, I wanted to do something new and stylish while scoring as many points as possible. So I trained on new bases to come up with this move, the "Burner extension". The Geneve wave is the biggest and most radical I've ever had in tow-in, so I chose my lightest, handiest equipment. My 4.0 wizard and the JP Freestyle 93l. Fortunately, conditions were optimal, as the wind died down just before the competition and the water was glassy. What a feeling of happiness and relief when I landed my first "Burner Extension 720" in competition and on top of that I got a 10/10
The organization: It's a real pleasure to come back to Geneva and especially to Tropical Corner, the organizing club. The team is really great: they're young, passionate and very friendly. Once you're here, you feel right at home, and all you want to do is go riding.
This event brings the European Tow-In championships to a close and Sam finished in 2nd place, with Yentel in 3rd place. Huge congratulations to both for this amazing achievement.
And also huge congratulations to Yentel for securing a second world title this year, the first ever Windsurfing FoilStyle World Title!!
The wind did not play ball for the FoilStyle part of the event in Geneva so Yentel's historic comeback all the way through the double in Vieste proved to be the winning formula for him this year.
We are extremely proud of both of you and wish you all the best for your celebrations!!
